Colorguard

The Larry A. Ryle High School Colorguard is a great way for any student to connect with others, gain an unmatched set of skills, and participate in a five-time state finalist marching Colorguard and an award winning Winterguard.

Programs

Ryle provides students with three separate programs for Colorguard. Each program runs during a separate time of year and offers students incredible opportunities. Explore them below!

July-October

Marching Band Colorguard

The Larry A. Ryle High School Color Guard is an essential component of the five-time KMEA State Finalist Marching Raiders. Color Guard members learn skills in movement, dance, flags, rifles, and sabers.

November - April

Varsity Winterguard

The Larry A. Ryle High School Varsity Winter Guard is one of the top high school programs in the state of Kentucky. The Varsity Winter Guard competes in Tri-State Marching Arts as well as Winter Guard International. The Varsity Winter Guard was a 2023 WGI A Class Finalist and has been named Class Champions at TMA in 2019 and 2022. The Varsity Winter Guard is selected by audition in November and competes in January through Early April.

November - March

Junior Varsity Winterguard

The Junior Varsity Winter Guard is a non-audition group that also competes in Tri-State Marching Arts. The goal of JV Winter Guard is to teach the students the basic fundamental skills of color guard while performing fun and crowd pleasing shows.
