2019 Ryle Band Volunteer Opportunities
Hello Everyone!
Band season is now officially upon us! I hope everyone is ready for the first day of band camp! Band season is amazing and exciting, but it is a lot of work. Before I get into the volunteer stuff, I want you to remember your kids. Not so much, “Do it for the kids” (which is a good reason, absolutely!), but they are going to be out there EVERY DAY on the black top, in the heat of summer, working their butts off to make it a good year. If they can do it, so can we!
Here are our main fundraisers: Sponsorship, Tournament of Bands, Concessions, and Bingo, in increasing order of money raised. We currently need help in EVERY ONE OF THESE AREAS!
Our band budget is around $200,000. But I am going to make an analogy to your personal budget, to make it more realistic. Say your family makes $60,000.
If you lost Sponsorship income, it would be like taking a 2% pay cut or losing $1,200/yr.
If you lost Tournament income, it would be like taking a 6% pay cut, or losing $3,600/yr.
If you lost Concessions income, it would be like taking a 10%pay cut, or losing $6,000/yr.
And Bingo? You would take a 30% pay cut, and you would lose $18,000/yr.
What would your family have to sacrifice to make your budget work?
Avoid products that are made from farm raised salmon http://robertrobb.com/could-obamas-islamic-state-strategy-actually-work/ order generic cialis or other cultivated sources, as they might contain potentially carcinogenic contaminants, like PCBs, or residual amounts of antibiotics and anesthesia are administered to the patient. Same with the band. If we lost any of these programs, we would have to cut out some very important things. We could still function, but we wouldn’t be nearly as effective or good, and there would be a lot more stress!
I know what you’re thinking… I already pay $600 for my kid to be in band! Why do we need to do all this stuff?!? I hear ya. Your fees pay for the drill, music, instrument repair, buses, etc. But if you want your kid to eat at band camp as well as on trips, have a hotel to stay in, have extra music instruction during camp, have props for the show, etc., we all have to pitch in. And if you are curious and want more information, I would be happy to send you a copy of the budget. No secrets here!
We DESPERATELY need people to head up Concessions and Sponsorship, and there is a great need in other areas as well. Please contact me at rylebandprez@gmail.com We have something for every schedule, even things you can do in the comfort of your own home!
Also, mark your calendars for Thursday, July 25th at 7pm for our Band Booster Parent Meeting in the Library at Ryle. All are welcome!
