2019 Competition Season- from Mr. Craig
Hello Ryle Band Families,
Here’s the rundown on our competitions for the season. This has also been updated in our Charms Calendar, as well.
Detailed itineraries for each competition will be sent out around 2 weeks before each contest. Contests typically run from early am to late pm, depending on travel.
Saturday, September 7th- Beechwood HS (Ft. Mitchell)
- Prelims and Finals Competition (2 performances that day)
Saturday, September 14th- Lafayette HS (Lexington)
- Prelims and Finals Competition (2 performances that day)
- ACT test day (can sign up for Ryle ACT site)
Saturday, September 21st- Ryle Tournament of Bands (RTOB)
- Students/Parents work during event
- Our Band will perform in exhibition (no score or placement) at the end of the contest
Saturday, September 28th- Off Weekend
- No contest or rehearsal Saturday, and no FB game Friday evening. Enjoy the weekend, and consider having fun while volunteering at Bingo!
Saturday, October 5th- Madison Central HS (Richmond)
- Prelims and Finals Competition (2 performances that day)
- Unfortunately, this competition falls on our Homecoming weekend. I try to avoid competitions on this date, but due to contest locations, etc. this was our best option. I laid all of our options out for our student leadership team, and they decided this was their best option.
- I will be fine with students leaving with their parents after we perform in finals, but depending on time, there’s a strong possibility with travel, etc. they would miss most of the homecoming dance. Again, for the last two years we’ve been able to avoid this circumstance, and I wish we were able to again this year. But by the decision of the student leaders, this is the best we can do for this date.
Saturday, October 12th- George Rogers Clark HS (Winchester)
- Prelims and Finals Competition (2 performances that day)
- We will rehears on Friday, 10/11 and Monday, 101/4, most likely for an extended practice time during the days we are off school.
Saturday, October 19th- Campbell County (Alexandria)
- Due to some changes in KMEA, there is no Class 5A Regionals this year. So instead of that, we will attend a Mid-States Band Association (MSBA) competition at Campbell County.
- This will be a one performance contest, likely in the early evening.
Saturday, October 26th- KMEA State Championships (WKU-Bowling Green)
- One guaranteed performance, need to be in the top four in our class to advance to finals that night. We hope to perform that evening, as well!!! 🙂
- This will be an overnight trip. We will spend the night at a hotel on Saturday evening and return Sunday afternoon. More details to follow!
