Good evening, Marching Raiders!
It’s the evening before band camp and we are entering a very busy time!
First, please be sure to review the Handouts from Mr. Craig for Band Camp Week 1 under the Handouts and Files section of Charms. Make sure you come to camp wearing sunscreen; we encourage students to bring sunscreen and leave it at school. Bring a water jug and lunch. And be sure to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
Warmups and the first parts of the show music can be found on Charms.
Students will need to purchase gloves, shirts for under their uniforms, and shoes (if they are rookies or veterans who have grown out of their previous shoes). We will be holding shoe and glove fittings this Thursday morning during practice. You can send a check in with your child, and we are also in the process of setting up the ability to pay online. Please make checks payable to the Ryle High School Band Boosters. The costs for this year’s uniform additions are as follows:
- Shoes, 2 pairs of competition gloves, and undershirt for uniforms: $70
- 2 pairs of competition gloves, and undershirt for uniforms: $30
- Brass players will also need $1 for white rehearsal gloves.
Upcoming Key Dates:
- 7/27 – Shoe and glove fitting, 9am-12pm (during practice)
- 8/4 – Friends and Family Preview and Dinner, 5:30-9pm
Lastly, making sure our band is successful takes a village of parents, family and friends. We need volunteers for every facet of the Marching Band season. There are many ways to help – band camp, competitions, Ryle Tournament of Bands, bingo, concessions the end of season banquet, and more. We are also always in need of donated goods. Take some time to review the volunteer section on Charms to see how you can help make the band a success!
