Hello band families,

Well the biggest week of the season is finally upon us.  This Friday is Senior Night during the football game and Saturday is the KMEA State Finals. Here are all the details for the weekend.  Help is needed in concessions and for competition food donations.  Please check the Charms Calendar to sign up. As this is Senior Night please consider helping out so senior parents can watch their senior perform for the last time at Ryle HS.  We will be loading our Penske trucks on Friday night during the football game.  We also need a few parents to help move the drum major stands and pit equipment to the field and during the half time performance.

Friday Senior Night Football Game:

5:45 pm   Students report to band room get in uniform
6:45 pm   Senior parents report to the track for introduction
7:30 pm   Game begins
          Half time show (no tarps or boards)

After the half time show, students will head directly to the band room and put their instruments in a Penske truck.  Students will turn in their uniform, except for their black bib pants.  Students will take their pants home on a hangar and keep them clean and neat as they will be wearing them first thing Saturday morning for the bus ride to Papa John’s Stadium at UofL.  Guard members will take their complete uniforms home Friday night and report Saturday morning with their hair already done.  Makeup can be put on during the bus ride.

Saturday morning students will report to Ryle wearing black shoes, black socks, black bib pants, and white show shirt.  Guard members will be in full uniform. The weather will be cool so they should bring a coat/sweatshirt for the bus ride.  In their duffle bags they will pack the hangar for their black bibs, and clothes to wear during the afternoon as they watch other bands perform at Papa John’s stadium.  Jeans or sweats are fine but no pajama bottoms.  Students will be fed by the Boosters but should also bring money if they want to purchase food or KMEA souvenir items at the stadium.

Saturday, KMEA State Finals:

 7:00 AM        Report to Band Room - In Uniform bibs - Load Duffles directly onto Penske truck
 7:15 AM        Trucks/Equipment Vehicles leave for Papa Johns
 7:15 AM        Band Meeting – Band Room/All members and chaperones
 7:30 AM        Load Buses
 7:45 AM        Leave for Papa Johns Stadium
 9:15 AM        Arrive at Papa Johns Stadium/put on rest of uniform in parking lot/warm ups
11:00 AM        Semifinals Competition Begins
11:15 AM        Ryle Performance
12:30 PM        Lunch (pizza provided by Boosters)
 3:30 PM        Finalist Announcement
 4:00 PM        Leave Papa Johns (if we do not make finals)
 5:30 PM        Arrive at Ryle

If announced as a Finalist – Return Time at Ryle will change to @1:00 AM
KMEA Finals Begin with Class A at 6:00 PM
5A Competition begins at 10:00 PM
Awards Approximately at 11:30 PM

Parents are asked to make sure their child gets to practice on time, gets plenty of sleep, eats breakfast on Saturday and drinks plenty of water.  It has been a great marching band season and now is the time to show the rest of marching band community our Ryle Pride.
